Not everyone can cover everyone.
Qualifications, registrations, and who is signed off for what. Match it by memory and you find out on the day.
Built for practices and care homes. The sleep shifts, the on-call and four kinds of time off all come out right before you send pay off, instead of you working them out on a calculator.

Opening hours are fixed, qualifications are not interchangeable, and the working-time rules are not optional. Plan it by hand and the first place you find out is a gap in the cover.

Rest between shifts, maximum hours, breaks. If they only show up in payroll, the schedule already broke them.
A request goes to one inbox, the balance sits in another sheet, and cover gets arranged in a corridor conversation.
Tag a qualification as a skill and require it on the shift, and Shiftbase shows planners who holds it. You can also set it so that nobody without the qualification can claim that shift. A planner can still assign anyone.

Set how many people each shift needs, per team and per day, and repeat it for the weeks ahead. A counter shows how many you've scheduled against how many you need, so a late shift that's one person down stands out. Drag the missing shift onto whoever's free.

Statutory and non-statutory time off, IKB and PLB, each with its own balance, sitting next to the schedule so you can see what approving it leaves you on the floor. These are set up as balance pools rather than shipped as named instruments, so the configuration happens once at the start.

TeamShifts, swaps, leave, and your hours in the app, so the schedule isn't a printout you have to photograph.
A care day is built around opening hours and the people qualified to cover them. Here is how it looks when the schedule, the absence, and the hours sit in one place.
The early team clocks in. Who is on, and what they're signed off for, is on one screen.
Post the shift open and whoever is qualified and free can claim it. Cover is confirmed before the first appointments run late.
Approve it knowing what it does to next week's cover, with the balance updated in the same place.
Evening surcharges and breaks are already counted. The payroll export needs no reconstruction.
Every feature is available from day one, no credit card needed. Your first week can be live tonight.
If your business runs on shifts, the setup already matches how you plan. Invite your team, set it up, and run it on a real week.
Monthly plans, no long contracts. If Shiftbase doesn't fit your business, you leave with your data.
Wage data and contracts are sensitive, so we store them on European servers under GDPR.

Yes, you can stop someone claiming a shift they are not qualified for: require the qualification as a skill on the shift and nobody without it can claim it. A planner can still assign anyone so the check sits on claiming rather than on assigning.
For Dutch working-time law, yes: Shiftbase checks the schedule against the Arbeidstijdenwet and shows rest between shifts and maximum hours before you publish, without blocking it. On any schedule it also flags a shift that lands on approved time off, overlaps another shift, or runs past someone's contract hours.
No to both, for different reasons. Home care is route based, and Shiftbase holds no client, address or travel record to attach hours to. Hospitals need rotating week patterns and clinical rostering, and neither exists. Shiftbase fits a practice covering a morning and an afternoon, or a care home running early, late and night.
Yes. On-call, stand-by and sleep shifts run off a rate card that pays and accrues at percentages below 100, and the wait hours reach payroll on their own line. What Shiftbase does not hold is a rotation object, a flat on-call allowance or call-out tracking, so a shift pattern that rotates week by week is built by hand.
Wage data and contracts sit on EU servers and are handled GDPR-compliant. Access follows the roles you set, so people only see what their job needs.
