Not everyone can stand every post.
Licences, screening and site clearances all have to match the post. Match them from memory and someone turns up who isn't cleared to be there.
Your guard clocks in at the post on their own phone. The night rate is already on those hours by the time they reach payroll.

Cover is what the client is paying for, and it runs through nights, weekends, and public holidays. Plan it by hand and the first sign of a gap is an empty post.
Licences, screening and site clearances all have to match the post. Match them from memory and someone turns up who isn't cleared to be there.
The guard finishes at six in the morning and texts you the times. You type them in again, work out the night rate on a calculator, and hope the two of you agreed.
A logbook at the post, collected weekly. By the time you can show the client the shift ran, the invoice is already out.
Tag a licence as a skill and require it on the shift, and Shiftbase shows planners who holds it. You can also set it so that nobody without the licence can claim that shift. Shiftbase holds no expiry date on a skill, so put the certificate and its renewal date on the employee file.

There is no kiosk on a post at midnight, so the guard uses their own phone. Restrict clocking to the post's location or a fixed IP so the hours can only start where the shift is.

Publish and everyone has their post and start time in their app. Open shifts, swaps, and leave come in as requests instead of calls to the control room.

Security runs on continuous cover: a handover every shift, right through the night. Here is how it looks when the schedule, the hours, and the proof sit in one place.
The day shift clocks in at the post. The control room sees every site is manned without a phone call.
You can see that this morning rather than at the end of the month.
The handover happens on the schedule, not on a scrap of paper. Night rates start counting at the same minute.
A gap on tomorrow's early appears. Post it now and someone cleared for the site takes it overnight.
Every feature is available from day one, no credit card needed. Your first week can be live tonight.
If your business runs on shifts, the setup already matches how you plan. Invite your team, set it up, and run it on a real week.
Monthly plans, no long contracts. If Shiftbase doesn't fit your business, you leave with your data.
Wage data and contracts are sensitive, so we store them on European servers under GDPR.

To stop someone without a licence claiming a shift, require the licence as a skill on that shift. A planner can still assign anyone, so the check sits on claiming rather than on assigning. Shiftbase holds no expiry date on a skill, so store the certificate and its renewal date on the employee file and Shiftbase emails before that date passes.
Guards clock in at the post on their phone, with geolocation if you want it, or on a terminal. Hours land on the timesheet as they happen, with the clock-in and clock-out time of every shift on record.
Shiftbase takes night, weekend and public holiday uplifts from a rate card and applies them to the hours you approve, so the export carries them. A day rate and a night rate on the same day are kept apart correctly too.
Shiftbase does not show hours per client. Hours register on people and shifts, and Reports total them per employee and per department, so you see what the work costs rather than what a customer costs. Setting up a department per site comes close, but a department is an organisational unit, not a client record. What you charge for a site stays in your billing system.
Post it as an open shift. Everyone licensed and cleared for that site sees it in the app and takes it, or asks for it, depending on how you set it up.
